The double has only a small passage to get through the room from the door to bathroom. There are 2 choices - a double room or a split bunk. This was a bit of a surprise as they were much smaller than we had aboard the previous ship.
That being said, the trip itself was excellent. Cycletours has fallen short of offering good customer service and should start to take note of how they can improve if they want to encourage travelers to book with them and keep them coming back. This would have been a very great souvenir and take-home for a trip. Cycletours would do well to offer a map with the route taken and key stops listed. We were also upset that the only shampoo/soap we were provided with on board the ship was in a very small bottle - the kind that you can't actually get any product out of and we had to purchase our own while we were out cycling. But then it was too late to help us out knowing how much to pack. During the trip we did find out that the first mate offered laundry service (exceptionally done) for 10 euros. For example, we asked if laundry services were available. However, if we had been a first-time customer we would have searched out other options more thoroughly as slow and curt communication doesn't bring confidence with a company. We chose to stick to Cycletours as we had a previous positive experience with our first trip. The replies were slow to come and questions were only partially answered if at all. The communication with Cycletour representatives was spotty to say the least. We wish we used our previous booking company (Van Gogh Tours).
Here is the results of our experience:īooking directly with Cycletours: This was a mistake. This time we dealt with Cycletours directly as we forgot about the original company at first. This is our second time we have used Cycletours the first time we used a travel booking to arrange the tour. We took the 2 week bike tour from Bruges to Paris aboard the Clare de Lune barge. I scored a 3 star rating for the Cycletour company, but the tour itself would be rated 5 stars for sure.
